South Beach Diet – Phase 2 – Week 2 – Day 1

Now that I can eat fruit and carbs, it’s gotten a lot harder to try to stay healthy. This week, I’m allowed to have 2 fruit and 1 carb but the foods I’ve come across has been more than 1 fruit and carb so I’ve been eating a little bit and wasting food. I hate doing that and I hate when others do that too. So this time, I’m going to pledge that I will not eat out, unless invited to dinner, for a month. This way I can control my eating habits a lot better if I buy what I can have.

One thing I’m going to do is buy those salad bags at the grocery store and leave it at work. That way everyday I can have a small salad for lunch and won’t have to worry about ordering anything.

As for exercising, I’m going to walk around my townhome complex everyday. At least I’m going to try but the weather has been so sucky since I leave in Florida and it’s hurricane season. It has rained everyday after work so far and I’m trying to not use the gym that much because I want to workout at home.

For one the gym gets crowded at times and then Sharri gets off of work late so sometimes I got to the gym without her in the beginning when she needs to take the car. By the time she gets off work, I want to go home because I’m exhausted but she wants to spend a hour. I don’t want to take her workout time away from her. That’s another reason why we are saving up for a elliptical right now for the house.

 

South Beach Diet – Phase 2 – Day 5

So I researched the cheese and I couldn’t have the Gouda and the Brie but I could have the cheddar so I ate that. One thing I realize about this diet is that it’s helping me lose the weight I quickly gain. Normally it would take me a week or so to lose the 1 or 2 lbs. I gained over not exercising. But I lost those lbs. in 3 days. Tomorrow, hopefully, I will be back down to 139.?? and continue to lose from there.

I’m thinking about losing my gym membership and saving up for a personal elliptical at home that I can use. The $20 I’m using for the gym can go towards the savings for that. I also found a great park by my house that I could take a walk around and use the fitness trail. The walk around is 1 mile, which is great, and they have about 10 exercise stops along the trail. I tried before to do videos at home and I guess I can try again. The thing is, when I come home, I become very tired and I don’t to once I come home. I need to be more determined.

South Beach Diet – Phase 2 – Day 4

I’m actually enjoying my option for carbs, even though I’m more of a meat eater. I just miss pasta and rice but I know I’m not suppose to have much because I’m suppose to slowly introduce it back into my diet. That’s not hard for me because I don’t eat much carb in the first place. I do love the option of picking and choosing what I eat.

Such as, for lunch, I’m having a cheese and fruit bistro from Starbucks. Now for my carbs, I’m suppose to have 1 carb and 1 fruit this week. The bistro has 3 cheeses, crackers, 3 slices of apples, and dried cranberries and roasted almonds as the trail mix. Now if I’m to follow my diet, I’m suppose to have the trail mix, as the cranberries being my piece of fruit and the crackers being my carb.

The cheese, I think I’m ok because I looked on my list and I don’t see it on the avoid list, Although it says, Full Fat. I think I’m going to avoid the Brie that comes with it, even though I love Brie. It has Gouda and Cheddar. Cheddar is fine but I’ll have to research the Gouda though.

South Beach Diet – Phase 2 – Day 2

Sorry I didn’t post about getting off of Phase 2 yesterday. I was moving into a new office and trying to things settle down. But yeah, yay me! The diet said that the first week, I should have 1 carb and 1 piece of fruit but I haven’t had those yet lol. Today for lunch, I’m actually going to have a salad instead. Oh yes, I can also have yogurt and I had a chobani for my mid-morning snack. Miss them! Even though I’m eating right, I’m slowly going back up in weight so I’ll have to hit the gym today. Today’s weight was 142 when I was 139.8 Sunday. 😦 I’m not going to try to kill myself. I’m going to do the elliptical for 1 hour. I wish I had one at home. They are expensive. The one I want is $600. It should be easy for me to lose what I gained though. I decided that Mondays are not good for me to workout because Sharri gets off at 7 and we want to run errands. By the time we are done, it’s last and I don’t want to be at the gym until it closes. I’ll definitely go on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I don’t know about Friday’s because Sharri gets off of work late again. We’ll try to go on Thursday though. We’ll have to see.

One more Day! South Beach Diet Phase 1

I almost made it. One more day and I’ll be able to eat carbs and fruit again. The carbs wasn’t so hard but it was the fruit because I love fruit, it’s sweet, which was the reason why I couldn’t have it, it’s healthy and it fills you. Pineapple is my favorite but unfortunately on Phase 2 I STILL can’t have it because of how much sugar it has in it. L Sucks I know! Anyway, I love other fruits too so it won’t be so bad. I miss pasta and rice. Alfredo Pasta OMG! Anyway, while I’m making myself hungry, I have lost 5 lbs. on Phase 1! Oh yes and as of yesterday I have finally reached under 140. YAY! Jumps up and down. Long road but I finally get to see the day. Now I only have to stay under it and keep going down.

South Beach Diet – Phase 1 – Day 10

Sorry I don’t have much to say today other than I worked out lightly yesterday because I was still tired from my 1000-calorie day on Monday. I’ll try to be more diligent today.

South Beach Diet – Phase 1 – Day 9

Yesterday was one of those days I spent a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG time in the gym. I think I burned 920 calories. I’ll call them my 1000 calories days. I don’t have many, just when I don’t have the car and I walk to the gym to wait to be picked up. Well actually afterwards Sharri comes in to exercise too so that’s why that’s added. But I like the fact that I have so much time to use so many machines. I went on the elliptical, circuit, and strength training.

Day 9 of the South Beach Diet and to tell you the truth, not eating carbs and fruit and whatever they have me not eating in Phase 1 isn’t hard at all. Maybe it’s because I’m a meat eater at heart lol. I do have cravings but I can control them. I can’t wait to have pasta or crackers. One thing I found out that’s a pain is everything that comes in a meal, has something with carbs or fruit. Ugh! So I’ve been eating mostly salads and fish while I’m out.

Oh yes salads, please be careful with those because I thought that a salad would be around 300 calories but no! Because they put so much in it now it’s between 500 – 600 calories. I ate a salad last night that was 606 calories. That’s amazing but other than that no surprises. I’m hoping by the end of this week, I’ll reach either 139 or 138. I know sooner or later because my body is losing weight so quickly, that it will slow down or stop but I hope it’s not at 140 lol.

South Beach Diet – Phase 1- Day 8

A week pass! Yay! And I’ve lost 4lbs so far on the diet! That’s over 15lbs in total since January! I’m so happy! I also survived the weekend. I tried really hard to stick to my diet and not eat anything unhealthy. I even had expensive sushi, 4 salmon slices with seaweed salad, in order to stay in line. I didn’t exercise over the weekend because that’s when I give my body a break. That’s why I’m also scared of the weekend. All food and no exercise make Ashley gain weight. But I’m still losing. What’s also intriguing about this diet is that I’m having desert at 9pm because as hard as I try, I can’t have dinner at 8, I’m still losing the weight. That’s amazing to me. But it’s also because I’m not having cakes and pies. Instead I’m having Soy Delicious Ice Cream.

South Beach Diet – Phase 1 – Day 4

I worked out at the gym yesterday yay! I did circuit training first then I went to the elliptical for 45 mins. Got tired pretty quickly because I did a level 10 on the elliptical instead of 7 or 8. Today I think I’ll do the strength training and then go to the elliptical for 30 mins. I’m trying to spend less time on the cardio and more time doing something else. Then maybe one day a week I’ll concentrate on cardio. I woke up today being 142 flat! OMG!! I finally made it. I’m happy to be closer to being under 140. I think I’ll celebrate when I get to that point. I don’t know yet.
